Dementia Awareness

Our Team at South Main Dental has participated in Dementia Friendly at Work Training for Healthcare Professionals.

In our community, it is estimated that 66% of people with Dementia live in their own homes and need support from family and community members.

Dementia is not a specific disease.  It is an overall term that describes a wide range of symptoms associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person's ability to perform everyday activities.  Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia.

  • More than 99,000 Minnesotan's have dementia or related disorders.
  • One in Ten people age 65 or over has Alzheimer's disease.
  • One in Three people over 85 has Alzheimer's disease.

While we are not here to diagnose any forms of Dementia, we are aware it is present in our community and we want to be able to communicate, interact with, and understand our patients and community members who may be struggling with some form of Dementia.

50% of adult cases never get diagnosed.  Don't be alarmed if we ask a question or two about your overall health, care and well-being.

We are a Dental Practice.  We put the care and treatment of our patients, family and friends first and foremost.  We are a health care provider and we care about you, your smile, AND your overall health.
